The third meeting of Discipline Committee of Political Science of Tongji University 2022 held
On June 20, 2022, the third meeting of the Discipline Committee of Political Science of Tongji University 2022 was held online. All members of the Discipline Committee, including professor Men Honghua, professor Wu Yun, professor Wu Xinye, professor Zhong Zhenming, professor Qiu Huafei, professor Li Shu, professor Shao Chunxia, professor Yu Minjiang, professor Sun Lei, professor Wang Fuqin and associate professor Lui Rui, attended the meeting which was chaired by Prof. Men, the committee director.
The meeting focused on discussing and deliberating the adjustment plans of the discipline of Political Science, the list of doctoral and master's supervisors for 2023 and the postgraduate training program for 2022, which would lay a more solid foundation for the development of the discipline.
Firstly, the meeting heard and deliberated on the adjustment plans of the second-level discipline track in the Master’s in Political Science Program and the track in the PhD in Political Science Program. The members all agreed to make a forward-looking plan for the setting of discipline track based on the construction of an independent knowledge system and the development trend of the discipline of Political Science, independently offer the second-level discipline of Master’s in International and Regional Studies, and adjust the second-level discipline of Master’s in Chinese and Foreign Political Systems to Comparative Politics, striving to be included in the off-catalog second-level disciplines; and additionally offer the track of International and Regional Studies in the PhD in Political Science Program.
Then, the meeting heard and deliberated on the list of doctoral and master's supervisors for 2023. After a thorough discussion, all members approved the applications of two professors for the qualification to admit and supervise doctoral students and the applications of eight professional teachers for the qualification to admit and supervise postgraduates, and decided on the list of supervisors for the discipline of Political Science in 2023.
The meeting had a thorough discussion on the revision of the training programs for master’s and doctoral students in the class of 2022. Prof. Men, the head of the PhD in Political Science Program, together with the four discipline leaders of the Master's in Political Science Program, gave detailed explanations on the revision. All members discussed the revision and improvement of the training programs in depth and adopted the revised drafts of these training programs, as well as agreed to send them to external experts for review.
