Tongji launches online information session for Haidong No. 1 Senior High School

On March 29, 2021, the School of Political Science & International Relations (SPSIR) of Tongji University, together with Qinghai Students Recruitment Group of Tongji University, launched an online information session for Haidong No. 1 Senior High School, Qinghai Province. On the Qinghai part, Vice President Ma Rupeng, Director of the Academic Affairs Office Li Yingda, and Grade 3 class teacher Wang Tiancun, led more than 40 outstanding students in Grade 3 to join the session. On the Tongji part, Professor Men Honghua, head of the recruitment group and Dean of SPSIR, Professor Xu Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee of SPSIR, Professor Zhong Zhenming, deputy head of the recruitment group and Associate Dean of SPSIR, Associate Professor Sun Ming, Assistant to the Dean and Director of Department of Sociology of SPSIR, Associate Professor Lyu Rui, Assistant to the Dean and Director of Department of Diplomacy of SPSIR, Professor Sun Lei, Director of the Department of Political Science of SPSIR, Associate Professor Li Xiaohong, a recruiter of the recruitment group, and other group members participated in the event. This session was moderated by Assistant Professor Liu Xiaoyang, Undergraduate Teaching Secretary of SPSIR.

At the opening ceremony of the event, Director Li Yingda first introduced to Tongji’s recruitment group the basic information about the high school and the admissions of the 2020 National College Entrance Examination, and especially expressed his thanks and expectations for this event organized by Tongji University.

Then Professor Men reviewed the main work of the recruitment group in the past year, and appreciated the interactive exchange and lecture feedback during his visit to SPSIR at the end of 2019. Based on his understanding of the teaching achievements and student quality, Professor Men paid tribute to Haidong No. 1 Senior High School's unswerving commitment to cultivating excellent students, further put forward his vision and expectations for the future, and expressed his willingness to support more students from the high school to study at Tongji.

During the session, Professor Zhong Zhenming first gave a systematic introduction to teachers and students of Haidong No.1 Senior High School on the development course, specialty setup, training mode, employment situation and campus life of Tongji, especially explained the development status and employment orientation of each enrollment specialty at the request of teachers and students. He welcomed excellent Qinghai students to apply for Tongji.

Then, Associate Professor Li Xiaohong introduced the basic situation of Tongji’s enrollment in Qinghai Province (especially in Haidong No.1 Senior High School) and the scores and rankings of various categories of enrollment in the past three years, and the future employment situation of Qinghai students in Tongji.

During the Q&A session, Haidong students asked many questions to the recruitment group, including with regard to the curriculum of International Relations, the future career advantages given the current China-US relations, the development prospects of Psychiatry and Semiconductor, campus life, and major selection (based on interest or public opinion), etc. Professor Men, Professor Zhong and Assistant Professor Liu answered their questions one by one based on their expertise and teaching and work experience. Haidong teachers and students listened carefully to the replies and expressed their gratitude to the teachers with frequent nodding, bursts of happy laughter and waves of warm applause.

Finally, the leaders and teachers of Haidong No.1 Senior High School once again expressed their appreciation and gratitude for this event. The leaders and members of Tongji group looked forward to seeing more applicants from the high school. On this basis, the two sides agreed to continue exchanges and interaction in the future, and then concluded the talk successfully in a friendly and warm atmosphere.
