Team SPSIR wins the first prize in the 2019 Urban Sustainable Leadership and Public Policy international university invitational competition

On November 9, the final of the 2019 Urban Sustainable Leadership and Public Policy international university invitational competition was held at C201 of the Sino-French Center, Tongji University. The competition was co-hosted by the International School of Tongji University, the International Center for Chinese Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and the Research Center for Leadership and Public Policy of the University of Oxford, and guided by the (Graduate) Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee of Tongji University.


106 university students from 33 countries and regions participated in the two-month competition. These Chinese and foreign participants competed and communicated with each other. After fierce competition, a total of 11 teams entered the final consisting of two parts: group presentation and questions from judges. In the presentation section, each team member focused on his/her own work to introduce the value of topic, research method, case study, research conclusion and teamwork. The judges then gave the team a score after a comprehensive consideration.

In the end, the undergraduate team of SPSIR, comprised of Ma Hezi, Tang Yumiao, Fang Hui and An Yujie, won the first prize for their work “Breakthrough: breaking down the three walls of community integration with smart technology”. Their research is designed to analyze typical cases of community governance and offer creative solutions to the three walls that hinder community integration based on the reality.
