Co-hosted by the Institute of European Studies (IES) of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the School of Political Science & International Relations (SPSIR) and the Center for German Studies of Tongji University, and the Sino-German Cooperation Center of CASS, an international symposium themed “Finding Certainty in Uncertainty: China-EU Relations amid Major Changes” was successfully held in the Sino-German Building of Tongji University on September 26-27, 2019.
Prof. Jiang Bo, Vice President of Tongji University, Prof. Dr. Sebastian Harnisch, Director of the Institute of Political Science at Heidelberg University, and Prof. Huang Ping, Director General of IES at CASS, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. More than 40 experts and scholars from Tongji University, Heidelberg University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, IES at CASS, and Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, etc. discussed a range of issues including Brexit and the future of EU, EU after European Parliament elections, China-US trade dispute and its impact on China-Europe relations, “17+1” cooperation between China and CEE, and EU’s response to the Belt and Road Initiative.
